Beyond design: ALVIC reflects on the architecture of sensations at Casa Decor 2026
Contemporary design no longer seeks merely aesthetics, but identity. Together with Héctor Ruiz Velázquez, Estudio Rebuelta Domecq and Personal K, we explore the concept of the surface as the “skin” that communicates, evokes emotion and transforms our experience within the home.

How do surfaces transform our well-being? Reflections from ALVIC at Casa Decor 2026
In today’s interior design, the question is no longer just which furniture to choose, but what sensations we wish to convey. As part of Casa Decor 2026, the ALVIC Group led a round-table discussion alongside leading figures in the sector to analyse the crucial role of materials in the evolution of the contemporary home.
Under the premise ‘The surface as the skin of the space’, architects and interior designers agree: materials are the language that defines our relationship with our surroundings.
The Surface: More than a finish, an identity
For Olga Trapero (CMO of Grupo ALVIC), the surface is the first layer of communication in a project. It is a “skin” that must balance external beauty with a solid interior based on quality, traceability and sustainability.
“We provide the skin, but the soul is brought by the professionals who transform these materials into identity” – Olga Trapero.
Through this vision, ALVIC articulates its presence at Casa Decor through three fundamental concepts for human beings: Mind, Body and Rest.
Mind: The emotional refuge of Personal K
The space “Between surfaces and words” designed by Personal K champions silence. Inspired by the family libraries of yesteryear, this corner seeks to make time stand still.
- The SEO key: The use of warm woods and natural textures to reduce visual and technological noise.
- The objective: To create environments that invite disconnection and introspection.
Body: Physical well-being with Héctor Ruiz Velázquez
With the “Sand Stone” project, the architect redefines the concept of domestic wellness. We no longer need to leave home to look after our bodies.
- Architecture as a “third skin”: The design integrates light, sound and materials to humanise the experience.
- Star materials: Surfaces that reduce visual heart rate and promote emotional balance.
Rest: The new luxury by Estudio Rebuelta Domecq
The “Órbita e Materia” suite explores the luxury of total disconnection. Inspired by lunar symbolism, this space employs a unique sensory narrative.
- Serene atmospheres: A combination of neutral tones and enveloping finishes.
- Design and emotion: Elements such as the fireplace and evocative lighting transform the bedroom into a sanctuary.
Challenges of Modern Interior Design: Compact and Hybrid Spaces
During the event, practical solutions were discussed for today’s homes, characterised by a lack of floor space and a hybrid lifestyle (work and leisure):
- Visual spaciousness: High-gloss surfaces are strategic allies for amplifying natural light in small homes.
- Aesthetic continuity: The use of continuous surfaces prevents the fragmentation of space, creating a sense of infinity.
- Flexibility: Materials must be able to adapt to a home that now ‘asks for everything’, from an office to a gym.
3 Keys to Choosing the Perfect Material
To conclude this session at Casa Decor 2026, the experts identified three essential criteria that every design lover should consider:
- Durability: A quality material is the foundation of sustainability.
- Coherence: The surface must reinforce the narrative concept of the space.
- Ability to inspire emotion: The new luxury is not ostentation, but a personal connection with our surroundings.
